We are Brigitte Schulze Martínez and José Luis Martínez Bañares. We are originally from Patagonia, Chile, (José Luis) and from Bavaria, Germany, (Brigitte). We both love mountains, rivers, oceans, animals, and plants.
Our Newen studio is located in Bozeman, Montana. We create sound journeys for deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and restoration. We also love exploring magical, mythical, and mysterious soundscapes.
We focus on stress reduction, inner peace, and stillness. We also curate our soundscapes for joyful exploration, sound journeying, and release.
Often, we incorporate elemental and nature sounds like wind, rain, oceans, rivers, birds and other animals. We use many traditional instruments from all over the world, including Mapuche instruments from Chile and Argentina.

WHAT DOES NEWEN MEAN?
Newen is the spiritual and physical energy within all life.
With the name Newen, we honor the Mapuche, the Indigenous people of southern Chile and Argentina, whose language is Mapudungun.
In Mapudungun, Newen means both spiritual and physical energy. It represents the vital forces of nature and the elements: water and air, earth and fire, plants, animals, and humans.
We chose the name Newen because we share a belief in the importance of our connection with nature and the elements for our well-being and peace. Through our sound journeys, we hope to transport you into nature and deepen that connection.
Instruments that carry ancient wisdom.
Our sound journeys are shaped by a diverse collection of acoustic instruments from around the world, including traditional Mapuche instruments from Chile and Argentina, alongside gongs, crystal singing bowls, drums, chimes, and many others.
Each instrument brings its own sound, vibration, and character. Woven together with elemental sounds inspired by wind, water, birds, and the natural world, they allow us to create rich soundscapes that feel both grounding and expansive.
For us, these instruments are more than tools for making sound. They connect us to nature, culture, tradition, and the universal experience of listening.
